主要用途編輯
為醫藥、農藥的中間體。本身也是一種鼠劑。用于測定鉻，鑒定醛、酮及糖，以及制備1，2，4-三唑。本試劑與甲酸縮合得到1-甲酰基-3-氨基硫脲，用堿環化得到3-巰基-1，2，4-三唑，用硝酸氧化除去巰基得到1，2，4-三唑。
